Kilnframe Download
CHANGELOG

What changed.

Every release, newest first. The app updates itself from the panel; the installers of older versions stay here in case you need to go back.

0.2.425 October 2026Latest

Fixed

  • Install command can be copied. When Claude Code, Codex or Grok CLI is not installed yet, Settings shows the command that installs it. In Premiere that command could not be selected, so it could not be copied. It now has a Copy button, and the field can be selected too.

Update

If you run 0.2.x, the panel offers the update: click Update. Or download the installer below.

  • macOS (Apple Silicon): Kilnframe-mac.pkg
  • Windows (64-bit): Kilnframe-Windows.exe (not code-signed yet: if SmartScreen warns, choose More info, then Run anyway)
0.2.319 October 2026

New

  • Send Feedback. At the bottom of Settings: a page on kilnframe.com opens with your versions filled in. Write a few words and send them with Gmail, Outlook or your mail app, or copy the text. No account.
  • Report This Error. Under an error from an animation, a story or the music, one click opens the same page with the error and your versions. File paths lose your user name, nothing is attached, and the error stays in your browser until you send it.
  • An expired API key is said plainly. Instead of the provider's English message, the panel says the key has expired (or was not accepted) and that a new one goes in Settings.

Fixed

  • Counts of one read right: "1 section", "1 Scene".
  • Music levels: a level that could not be measured (a range with no pauses) is left out instead of showing "in pauses · dB".
  • Music plan: "No Music" and "Join With Next" no longer run into each other.
  • DaVinci Resolve: the note about Deliver settings that could not be put back now also shows on the Music tab.
  • A busy Premiere or Resolve no longer stops the panel from noticing a new In/Out: a read that gets no answer is let go and tried again.
  • Graphics card check: a check that found no GPU is done again next time, so a card that was busy is seen without restarting the app.
  • The edge check on the review stills no longer holds the app up for a moment, and the Music tab reads each piece of music once instead of twice.

0.2.215 October 2026

New

  • Z.ai (GLM) as a provider. Connect your Z.ai API key and use GLM 5.3 Flash or FlashX directly. It is the fastest and cheapest choice we have measured (about 2 minutes and one cent for our benchmark clip), marked experimental: its scenes are simpler than the recommended models'.
  • A note when a drawing is cut by the frame's edge. On the review screen, a scene whose still has a small drawing running off the edge gets a note under it. Look at it and, if you do not like it, write a note and have that scene made again. Styles that crop on purpose, like Kinetic Typography, get no note.

Faster

  • Styles show at once when the panel opens, instead of after a few seconds of computer checks.
  • A new In/Out shows almost at once in Premiere and in DaVinci Resolve.

Fixed

  • Settings: the music level could not be chosen. It can again.
  • Opening another sequence kept the last video's result, note and images on the range tab. They are cleared now.
  • An animation that failed its checks is now explained in the panel's language, not in English.
  • Sign Out waits until a running animation is done, and says so when a setting on the computer keeps the account signed in.
  • Windows: Sign In works when the profile folder's path has spaces.
  • DaVinci Resolve: if your Deliver page settings cannot be put back after an export, the panel tells you.
  • Music:
    • Making one section again no longer remakes sections that failed before, and you pay for the one you asked for.
    • The planning AI's price is counted in "Spent on music" when you pay by API.
    • A very quiet piece is no longer boosted into its own noise.
    • Long ranges use far less memory.
    • Stop no longer aims at a job that is already over.
  • HyperFrames 0.8.149, the engine that renders the animations: the same pictures in the same time, with its own fixes.

0.2.113 October 2026

New

  • Sign Out for Claude, ChatGPT and Grok. Each plan in the settings now has Sign Out. After you confirm, Kilnframe runs that program's own sign-out; press Sign In to connect another account, for example when one account's credits run out. Signing out also signs that program out in the terminal on this computer.
  • Open Kilnframe from the panel. When the app is not running, the panel says so in its own language and shows Open Kilnframe. It starts the app and connects as soon as it answers.
  • Format check. When the chosen format is not the sequence's shape (a portrait animation on a landscape timeline), a short note under Format says so before you start.
  • GLM 5.3 Flash is among OpenRouter's suggested models: fast and inexpensive in our benchmark, marked experimental.

Fixed

  • API keys deleted in the settings came back after Kilnframe restarted, on Macs that ran a version from before the rename.
  • "Rejected the API key" when the key was fine. When a provider asks you to accept something on its website first (OpenRouter's age confirmation for some models), Kilnframe now says that and gives the page to open.
  • An English "Not connected" message in the Turkish panel.
  • Sign In for ChatGPT and Grok now signs in to the same profile Kilnframe reads, also when that profile is not the default one.
  • Small updates of the libraries Kilnframe uses.

Update

If you run 0.2.0, the panel offers the update: click Update. Or download the installer below.

  • macOS (Apple Silicon): Kilnframe-mac.pkg
  • Windows (64-bit): Kilnframe-Windows.exe (not code-signed yet: if SmartScreen warns, choose More info, then Run anyway)
0.2.012 October 2026

New

  • DaVinci Resolve Studio. Kilnframe now runs inside DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 or later, on Mac and Windows, with the same range inserts and story mode as in Premiere. The installer puts the panel into Resolve: restart Resolve and open Workspace > Workflow Integrations > Kilnframe. It wears Resolve's own colours and font, and can stay above Resolve or not (settings, Panel Window). The free version of Resolve does not load plugins: Resolve needs Studio.
  • Music tab. Score the whole timeline or an in/out range with Google Lyria:
    • The AI plans sections by topic, each with its mood and tempo.
    • You change a section's direction, join two sections, or leave one without music, then make it.
    • Listen to each section with your voice over it, make any section again with a note, and place it: one clip per section on a new audio track.
    • The music sits around -21 dB on your meter while you speak, comes up in the pauses, grows towards the end and closes on the last frame; set the level in the settings.
    • Needs a Google Gemini key, about $0.08 per section. Lyria music carries Google's inaudible SynthID watermark; each job folder keeps a record of what made it.

Fixed

  • Your own footage could be muted during the export when it lived in a folder named Kilnframe: it was taken for an earlier insert and switched off, so the AI heard silence.
  • A second insert over the same range heard the first one when the Premiere project was not saved yet: inserts in Kilnframe's own job folder were not recognised as Kilnframe's.

Update

If you run 0.1.x, the panel offers the update: click Update. Or download the installer below. When DaVinci Resolve Studio is installed, the Resolve panel comes with it.

  • macOS (Apple Silicon): Kilnframe-mac.pkg
  • Windows (64-bit): Kilnframe-Windows.exe (not code-signed yet: if SmartScreen warns, choose More info, then Run anyway)
0.1.211 October 2026

Fixed

  • Windows: clean overlays were sent back as "hazy". The check for a faint layer over the speaker read every transparent overlay as faint, so overlay scenes were repaired for nothing, costing time and tokens.
  • A scene that showed only its background reached the review. Such a scene now goes back to the model to be fixed before you see it.
  • Review stills caught text half written when a reveal ran past the last word. The still is now the most complete frame of the scene, before anything leaves.
  • Quitting Kilnframe or installing an update during an animation stopped the job. Kilnframe now asks: Quit When Done or Quit Now. The macOS installer waits for the job; the Windows installer asks you to try again once it is done.
  • A reply cut off at the model's output limit showed a technical message. The panel now says what to do, and the reply is tried once more instead of twice.

New

  • What an insert cost: under "The animation is on the timeline" the panel shows the tokens used and the cost, or, on a Claude, ChatGPT or Grok plan, what it would cost as API use.
  • Version in the settings: the app's and the panel's version, with a link to these notes.
  • Kilnframe says where it is when you open it. It has no window, only a menu bar or tray icon; opening it again shows its menu.
  • OpenRouter: costs for models Kilnframe has no price for, and a lower thinking setting for GLM 5.3 Flash, which now makes an insert in about two minutes for about a cent.

Update

If you run 0.1.0 or 0.1.1, the panel offers the update: click Update. Or download the installer below.

  • macOS (Apple Silicon): Kilnframe-mac.pkg
  • Windows (64-bit): Kilnframe-Windows.exe (not code-signed yet: if SmartScreen warns, choose More info, then Run anyway)
0.1.111 October 2026

Fixed

  • Overlay inserts showed a black background in Premiere Pro. Scenes placed over your footage now keep their transparency, so you see your footage behind the animation. Full-screen inserts were not affected.

Changed

  • Kilnframe now ships with FFmpeg 9.0.2. Overlay files are also much smaller (about 13 times smaller in our tests).
  • When an update is ready, the panel links to its release notes.

Update

If you run 0.1.0, the panel offers the update: click Update. Or download the installer below.

  • macOS (Apple Silicon): Kilnframe-mac.pkg
  • Windows (64-bit): Kilnframe-Windows.exe (not code-signed yet: if SmartScreen warns, choose More info, then Run anyway)
0.1.011 October 2026

Known issue: overlay inserts show a black background in Premiere Pro instead of your footage. Fixed in 0.1.1: update from the panel or download the newest installer.

First release of Kilnframe: select a range in Premiere Pro, get an animated insert with sound effects placed on your timeline.

Download

  • macOS (Apple Silicon, M1 or later): Kilnframe-mac.pkg. Signed and notarized.
  • Windows (64-bit): Kilnframe-Windows.exe. Not code-signed yet: if SmartScreen warns, choose More info, then Run anyway.

One installer sets up both the Kilnframe app and the Premiere Pro panel. Later versions arrive from inside the app.

What's in 0.1.0

  • 11 built-in styles plus your own style from a reference image or a description
  • Landscape, portrait and square output; automatic fullscreen or overlay scenes
  • Scene stills to approve before the full render
  • Sound effects delivered as a separate WAV for your own mix
  • Story mode: write a topic, get narration, music and animation in a new sequence
  • Use your own Claude Code, Codex or Grok CLI sign-in, or an API key (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, xAI, MiniMax, OpenRouter, LM Studio)
  • Everything renders on your own computer
